Wow! What an incredible week, and weekend, it has been! It truly has been a huge blessing to see how the Journey family has responded to helping our friends in Haiti!

Some weekend highlights:

  • Close to 1000 "Heart for Haiti" t-shirts were purchased yesterday, with proceeds going to Mission of Hope.
  • The media team got HeartforHaiti.tv up and running really quick to help our continued efforts! Thank you!
  • My small group came and sold the t-shirts! REALLY HELPED!!!
  • People gave their lives to Christ yesterday! Never gets old!
  • I met a man that came to Journey 5 weeks ago! He has come to Christ & is kicking a 18 year crack habit! Now that is God!
  • Student Journey had a great winter camp.
  • And Jack Bauer is back!!! That helps any weekend!
Words can not even begin to express how proud I am of our church right now! I am continually amazed by people's commitment to Christ, to each other, and the house of God! I look forward to a great year of ministry together.

Re: Weekend Recap

After reading Ruben's letter and watching the video Sunday, our first response is to take out the checkbook and write a check for the relief efforts in Haiti. As I sat in church Sunday, I wanted to do more and my mind began to wander. I thought of all the conveniences we have and the money we spend to enjoy them. What if for 1 week, or better yet, one month everyone at Journey set aside any funds normally used for those conveniences and gave to Mission of Hope. Folger's instead of Starbuck's, PB&J instead of Subway, and yes, water from the tap is drinkable. Just imagine 5, 10, or even 20 dollars a day could be set aside from each member of a church that seats around 4000 weekly. What a difference our church could make in one month from such "sacrifices".

Re: Weekend Recap

I am Otis Garrison's daughter...and more importantly, Ruben's girlfriend. I cannot thank you enough for your support of both him and the Mission of Hope. I lived and worked at the Mission of Hope for 2 years and have never seen a church do so much. I am glad was able to be in Haiti when your group came last summer, they were a fun group (and I was able to reconnect with a distant cousin).

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!!!
Blessings,
Amy

Re: Weekend Recap

Clark,
Thanks for your hard-hitting sermons in this series about how we must live if we are going to be followers of Christ. This is what I personally need to hear. I also really appreciated your sermon week before last about how we treat our children. It moved me to push Johnny to attend WinterCamp, which he did, and he had a great experience. Just wanted to let you know and to express my appreciation.
