Last week I went to Denver for what was supposed to be an easy trip: attend meetings, turn around, and come home. So, it didn't exactly turn out that way, due to a little bit of snow in OKC. Long story short, what was meant to be an easy trip ended up needing a little creativity and innovation to get us home.
After some hefty debates with our airline about why I wasn't going to pay a change fee to be rerouted when they cancelled my flight, I ended up flying to DFW.
The plan was simple: Spend the night, rent a car, and drive home!
What was really intriguing to me was my journey to find a car to drive home. First up - Hertz. I went to the counter, flashed my "Hertz Gold Card", and was ready for my great service. They were very kind as they told me they couldn't rent me a car! What? I'm a "Gold Card member"! (I was actually very nice) They went on to explain to me that most of their fleet was Toyota and they couldn't lease any of them due to the recall! They couldn't even fill the reservations they had already accepted!
So, I went over to the "Remember the Alamo" counter (also known as Alamo) and they hooked me up with a Hyundai!
Now, you have to remember I am a huge Hyundai fan! I had a 1988 Hyundai Excel for 5 years, without one problem! (I know my Hyundai love is throwing some of you off that know my love for cars, but it is true.) We drove our Santa Fe home, from Dallas, and it reminded me how great Hyundai's are. They are great, affordable cars! I love the new Genesis! It's out of my league, but it is really cool!!
Many times in life we get into our routine and we forget to give other things a try. I would of promised you 3 years ago that I would never have a Mac. Now I will promise you I will never have a regular PC. It took a little bit of snow to remind me how I need to get out of my routine and try new things!
I dare you to try something today that you would swear you would never do! (Not sinful!) In the meantime, if you are looking for a great, economical car, I'm still a Hyundai fan!
